“What’s he doing?” Tiji demanded, peering out the cockpit window at her adopted uncle as he barked orders at the small girl, newly named Laka Ri, who stared at him fiercely but did as he told with the blade.

“He’s teaching Laka,” Carth said absently from where he looked over star maps and calls for aid the Republic had sent over.

“Teaching her what?” the young girl scowled. “He’s always teaching her. And she don’t ever talk!”

“Give it up, Kylish, you know you’re no match for us,” Canderous growled, annoyed with how long it took to find the would-be assassin, only to be ambushed by him and twenty men, who now had him, Carth, and Alora surrounded.

“I think not,” the man jeered, backing away. “And I think, Mandalorian, this will be the last anybody hears of your fallen Jedi.” He then turned and walked out the door, and as soon as it clipped shut the blasters went off, though Carth frowned as he caught a split second noise of a young shriek and the clang of virbroblades from outside.

“I still say it’s pointless trying to find anybody in here,” Canderous said, looking around the bustling, packed streets of Nar Shadaar, glaring at the smell and the ratty looking beggars.

“We need to find this assassin before he targets more senators,” Carth said. “He could really upset the Republic right now, just as we’re rebuilding.”

“Well where do you suppose we start looking, Republic boy?” the Mandalorian said, glaring.

“You two cool it,” Alora said absentmindedly. “There’s a cantina up ahead. Let’s see if there’s any information there.”

“Fine,” the soldiers both grumbled, going in.

Creed sat on the lawn of the school, absently knawing on his hand, appearing to be squinting across the lawn in the bright light, his hair fallen loosely over his face.

The gigantic man hadn’t moved since he had returned from the cafe, a day and a half ago. He’d gently told off the children that had come to him, and flatly ignored the teen or two who’d come up to see what was wrong.

And now he could smell Red coming up. His sheilds, up since he’d gotten here, intensified, though he made now outward signal that he knew she was coming.
